GENERAL INFORMATION

The BC Site Registry is the BC Ministry of Environment registry of properties that have entered into or are undergoing site assessment and/or remedial action respecting various types of environmental concerns including contamination.

The environmental online host system has certain search variables and an escalating fee structure that is chargable whether or not the search input criteria indicates or produces a report:
As a cost saving measure a TWO-STEP SITE SEARCH PROCEDURE has been implemented for this section
- to provide a Site ID number (the MOST RELIABLE search criteria for locating Synopsis or Detail Reports), and
- to eliminate the rather substantial non-returnable Synopsis Report or Detail Report fees assessed by the online host system in cases where no sites on the Site Registry match the inputted search criteria, and
- to allow selection of specific reports in cases of multiple sites associated with the inputted search criteria

STEP 1 - Site Selection List
- to determine if a land parcel is registered in the Site Registry and if so to provide the Site ID Number(s)
(the MOST RELIABLE search criteria for locating Synopsis or Detail Reports)

This search will provide either a:
- Nil Search Report (no sites match the search criteria), or
- Selection List Report - a list of site(s), WITH SITE ID NUMBER(S), associated with the search criteria

Notes:
- the PID Number required is the Land Titles Office 9-digit Parcel Identifier number
- the PIN number required is Crown Land's 7-digit Parcel Identification number
- the Crown Land file number required is Crown Land's internal file number
- the Address required must include full street address and City
- double check all input information - any variations require re-ordering

- If this search returns a Selection List Report a Synopsis Report or a Detail Report can THEN be ordered under the following Step 2 using the Site ID number provided in the Selection List Report (DO NOT go to Step 2 until a Site ID number is known)
- If the Site ID Number is available from other sources and a Synopsis or Detail Report is required skip Step 1 and move to Step 2

STEP 2 - Synopsis Report or Detail Report
- to locate Synopsis Report(s) or Detail Report(s)
(Step 2 can be used without using the Selection List search if the complete Site ID Number is known from other sources)
This search will provide either a:
- Nil Search Report (no sites match the search criteria), or
- Synopsis Report or a Detail Report (in accordance with Type of Search selected)

Notes:
- The Site ID Number required is the Ministry of Environment’s Site ID number
- Ensure that the information windows have been zoomed, read and understood when selecting Type of Search
- double check Site ID number - any variations require re-ordering

Note 1 - enter the complete Site ID number EXACTLY as it appears on the Selection List previously obtained
or if you CERTAIN a Site ID number obtained from other sources is complete and correct
